Iain Alexander: 'When Matt came to me with the idea I was inspired by his desire to go against the image that a lot of rap videos had in this country: the hood, the violence and the isolation. He wanted to show himself as someone who had attained wealth and success, and was accepted in society. It was fun to make but the message is serious enough!' |

VIDEO SYNOPSYS
French rap artist Matt Moerdock has teamed up with a young film director, Iain Alexander to make an anti gun culture music video entitled 'Feel the heat', which goes to the heart of France's social integration problems, where humour is the weapon of choice.
Look at any recent press coverage of the Paris suburbs and you will read about high unemployment especially among young people of North African descent and frequent standoffs with the police degenerating into violence, sometimes armed violence. The soundtrack to this daily cycle of despair and tension is generally rap music.
The video was filmed at the prestigious Palm Beach Casino in Cannes in early March 08. This haunt of A list celebrities could be the unlikely birthplace of rap as a healing force in a divided society and hopes to define a new era for rap music with a positive image.
