Multi-Award winning artist, James Grehan has been riding a wave of success in the Australia music scene for over 3 years. James' unique guitar style of inventive opening tunings ring out over his intricate finger work and are combined with his insatiable vocal timbre making for a world class act.
With 9 songs from two critically acclaimed independent releases featured on Triple J and community radio across Australia, 3 film clips on national TV, several performances featured on Fox television, a swag of live gigs including supports for artists such as Mark Seymour of Hunters and Collectors, Paul Greene and Good shirt to name a few, James is steadily making a lasting impression on the Aussie music circuit.
In 2003 he released his debut album Rather Be a Butterfly, swiftly picked up by Triple J presenter, Rosie Beaton and before long the first single What You Wanted had been added to high rotation on Triple J. A film clip for What You Wanted was aired on Rage TV for 6 consecutive weeks and momentum for the album began to snowball.
What You Wanted was the most requested song on Triple J's Super Request, was in the top 100 most played songs of 2003/04 and was added to high rotation on Hot Tomato after James was made 'artist of the month' on the local Gold Coast commercial radio station.
With the success of What You Wanted, a second single, Riddler, was added to the Triple J play-list and once again James' profile grew.
In January of 2004, James and his band made their first festival appearance at the Gold Coast Big Day Out and were met by a swarm of newly found James Grehan supporters.
In December of 2004, James and his band were invited to play at the WIN Entertainment Centre in Wollongong for the Music Oz Awards alongside Tex Perkins, Jebediah and Regurgitator.
